Description
I have been told only four of examples of the Saxie were ever made so this is highly collectible and in the kind of condition any museum would love to get its hands on.
In excellent good condition for its age, nickel (?) plate is all there. Very very very slight spotting and scratches in a few placse, but you need to look reeeaaally close.
Small ding in bow, which any decent tech could remove.
Please don’t contact me with low offers, I am not in a hurry to sell this because every time I behold this lovely piece of history it makes me happy so I would rather keep it than sell it cheap. I know that somebody out there who appreciates what this is will happily pay the price and give it a good home. On one hand I think it should be in a museum, but on the other hand I’d love to see this in the hands of a great player who loves it (and its history) and can perform with it.
Original Saxie Mouthpiece?
This comes with a wooden mouthpiece (Grenadilla?) and very basic 1-screw ligature. I believe this is probably the original mouthpiece. The case is also basic but decent for its age, however has some paint spots on it that do look like they could be removed if you have the time. Looks like emulsion paint so probably come off with warm water/detergent. But it doesn’t have that terrible 1924 mouldy stickiness.
