Description

This is an extremely rare and collectible book from 1923, but all the tutorials, exercises and studies are still relevant today. Some slight staining on the inside cover page and TOC (see photos) and small tear on hardback spine. Strangely the cover has no title. I don’t think it has worn off because the condition of the binding is good for its age – some scuffing to the corners and the small tear on the back. Maybe there was once a dust jacket.

Included is a fold out sheet “How to Hold the saxophone” and fingering chart
The pages are in remarkably good condition for a 100 year old book. All page binding is intact. Send message if you would like to see a photo close up of a specific page number.
The book was also available as two volumes: parts 1 & 2 and later (in the 50s) it was sold as 4 volumes. This is the 1923 revised edition and contains the complete collection of tutorials, exercises, studies, tunes in 329 pages plus introduction.

A veritable smorgasbord of saxophonia.

  • Condensed rudiments of music
  • Breathing
  • Tone production
  • Fingering
  • Tunes
  • High note studies
  • Duets
  • Saxophone special effects
  • How to jazz (mmm nice!)

This is great collectible as well as a great resource for complete novice through to advanced professional and I can honestly say, as a pro player and educator, I find it totally relevant today.

Some slight staining see photos, same tear on spine see photos. Basically not at all bad for a 1923 workbook
